Remember this post? Well I got a bunch of follow-up questions about what KIND of self tanning lotion I use, so I thought I’d dedicate a post to filling you in!
And this is EXACTLY what I look like when I’m done.
K, not EXACTLY like that. Orrrr not at all?
Here’s my IDEAL routine:
a) Take a shower AT NIGHT. Shave & exfoliate.
b) Put the tanner on.
c) Next morning: rinse body off to get rid of the ‘tanner’ smell. I will admit peeps: there is one.
Here’s what my ACTUAL routine usually looks like:
a) Be too tired and too lazy to shower at night.
b) Shower in the morning but be too lazy and too rushed to shave legs or exfoliate.
c) Put tanner on after morning shower, despite my hairy legs and non-exfoliated skin.
d) Smell like self-tanner all day.
e) Awesome.
Wait – there’s more...
Other Tips:
a) I will often put two coats on my face. I’ll put the first one on, then let it dry while I’m putting it on the rest of my bod, then I’ll put it on my face again. I do this because the face color seems to wear off faster than other areas, AND it’s great for evening out complexion! However – I WOULD NOT recommend this for newbies at self-tanning lotion application. It takes some skill. A very minor amount of skill, mind you – but some all the same.
b) There is a 99.99% chance that your hands will look REAL orangey afterward (even though you’ll have washed your hands feverishly at the end of each application.). I’ve never tried any of these, but Sephora & other places sell a small slew of products that could help you avoid orange palm disease. The ones that look promising are HERE, HERE, and HERE.
c) As far as application methods are concerned, all I can say is: BLEND BLEND BLEND! RUB RUB RUB! And that practice makes perfect! I’ve been doing this religiously for over 10 years now, so at that point you kinda got your approach down.,..
And that’s about it! You’d think that L’Oreal was paying me for endorsing them right? (they should be! Um, hello? L’Oreal? Are you hearing this?) – buuuuuuut turns out they’re not (womp womp). So this is based solely off personal experience and what has worked for ME. I have tried just about every tanner under the sun – the expensive junk, the cheap junk… THIS ONE IS MY FAVE. Hands down.
AND LET US NOT FORGET…the BRONZER!
The bronzer I use in my daily makeup routine is Cover Girl Tru Blend in 440. It gives my face a nice, yummy glow after all the tanning junk. Just don’t go too crazy with it – no one wants to look like an oompa-loopa.
So thurr you have it! That’s the tanning side of my makeup routine in a nut shell! So? What do you think guys? Questions? Can you see YOURSELF giving self tranning a try?
And this is the evidence that I actually use this stuff! Don’t mind my funk-nasty cluttered and disorganized dresser (womp womp).
Have a Thank Goodness I don’t have to be PASTY WHITE in the Winter anymore Thursday!
Sooo, I had to stop self-tanning for laser hair removal, and haven’t done it in months…but when I did, I ALWAYS used latex gloves to apply! I can rub and blend, without worry! Then I take them off, and only apply a small amount of the back of each hand (often blending with lotion to dilute it a little) and it works like a charm!
She really does stink like tanner all the time, people. Woof. Do it at night!!! bahahaha.
Also- your dresser looks cute, and you know it.
Also- you said womp womp twice in the same post.
Also- you really should purchase yourself a glove, as much as you use this crap. They are the best, and you get a more even blend with much less effort.
Also- you should have come to Boise this weekend.
Also- I have been on a pants binge that last few days, I need intervention. Got 4 new pairs of colored cigarette pants. All for super cheap, but still.
Also- you may have to help me wear said pants.
Also- you should warm people more particularly about hairline build up. Woof.
That is all.
I love sublime bronze!! my only problem is my back!!! how do you apply to your back?! and how do you keep it from getting blotchy and funky looking since you apply so often??
