So you consider yourself a manly man, eh? Well, let’s just say that the spectrum of colors that a man by that description can acceptably wear has definitely changed a bit…
Shirt: Gap {similar} | Slim Fit Twill Pants: Old Navy, c/o {buy here} | Loafers: Call It Spring, c/o {buy here} | Polka Dot Tie: Nordstrom {similar} | Watch: Tag Heuer | Blt: Gift
…and it’s time to embrace it! Who can be mad that colors like pale lilac (i.e. the shirt in this post), mint, and even the right shade/amount of pink are effectively making their way into the closets and ensembles of some of the manliest men in America (i.e. my husband)? Imagine the possibilities! Sure, it may be a minute before we see one of the Ducky Dynasty guys rockin’ these hues, but all I’m saying is that when done the right way, these colors can be worn with pride and dignity by even the manliest of men. Husband has historically been skeptical any time I’ve brought home something for him to wear that wasn’t in the ‘neutral colors’ or ‘blue’ category, but he immediately whistles to a different tune once he tries the stuff on and realizes how good he looks in it. Take this lilac button up paired with the blue twill slacks – we ‘manned’ it up by adding the neutrals of the belt, shoes and black tie, and by the end we were loving the combo. It’s proof that spring colors for guys can effectively steer clear of looking feminine or trite. Woot!
My challenge to you, gentleman, should you choose to accept it: open your heart and mind a bit to a fresh spring color this season. Push your boundaries. Stretch your comfort zone. See if you can find it in your heart to welcome one of these new hues into your life, into your affections, and into your closet. I promise that you (and your wife/GF/lover/whomever) won’t even be mad that you did. Cuz that’s how guuuuuud you gonna look in one of these spring colors for guys.
So what do you think peeps? Would you wear a spring hue? Ladies, could you get your man to do it?
Have a Mustard Monday!

Your hubby looks sharp! There’s no way I could get my husband in lilac. I’m pretty sure every shirt he owns is blue. Oh, wait–he has one that’s beige.

My husband doesn’t ever get out of his fishing clothes, and cargo shorts.
I need to start showing him “heyyyy, look at Shannon’s husband looking all sharp”
even though I know it will never work!
