And here to answer that question, back by popular demand, is Mr. Scotty Christofferson! Take it away Scotty!
The holiday season is the season of impressions – first impressions, good impressions, bad impressions and last impressions (if you have too many bad impressions). As a man it’s important to play it cool at the holiday parties, listen more than we speak, and look better than we normally do.
For a dressy holiday party with friends it’s important to do something bold, and quite frankly, to have an opportunity to wear your beautiful cranberry jacket that you’ve only worn a few times. Show your old friends from college that you’ve still got it, because we all know you do!
Rust shoes: Ecco via Mens Wearhouse | Maroon socks: Merona via Target | Gray pants: Dress Code | White slim fit shirt: Banana Republic | Navy and green tie: Merona via Target | Gold watch: Seiko
And for casual holiday parties it’s still important to show that you know what month it is so wear red or green, plaid or flannel but not too much. Leave your reindeer antler headband and Santa hat at home and wear one article of clothing that screams Christmas and then downplay the rest. We want to try, but not too hard.
Brown Sperry’s: Nordstrom | Dark wash, straight fit jeans: Gap | Navy and green slim fit: Banana Republic | Brown/gray cartigan zip-up: Banana Republic | Silver watch: Fossil via Macy’s
And for the dressy parties with people we aren’t as close with, a church service or community event, it’s nice to mix it up with a casual blazer or holiday tie. Especially for those times when a suit is too formal but you still want to wear a jacket and a tie. This makes you look and feel stylish but it’s not so bold that you wonder if others would think it’s too much or over the top.
Black dress shoes: Axcess via Macy’s | Black tailored, slim fit pants: Banana Republic | Black belt: Merona via Target | Blue/teal shirt, slim fit, French cuff: Banana Republic |Gray blazer: Old Navy | Red tie: Merona via Target | Black watch: Merona via Target
Make your holiday season a season of impressions – good impressions, better (than last year) impressions and your best impressions. May your days be merry and bright!
Thanks for the tips Scotty! And thanks for reading urrrybody.
