I’ve had a few requests from lovely women who are a couple of years older than me (my mother, being one of them) to feature someone on the blog with killer style who is in the 40+ age-group. Well, I didn’t have to look far to find the perfect subject for such a feature. SO, today’s Style Crush is dedicated specifically to Fashion at Age 40+! It is for all you fine women who want to look great but don’t want to dress exactly like us 20-somethins (nor should you want to do that), although I think this ensemble you’re about to see would look great on a girl at any age. With no further adieu… Meet my Aunt Val. So, what’s the secret to dressing like a regular fashionista regardless of your age? WELLLLL… let me share a few things that I’ve garnished from observing my adorable Aunt Val, and…
STYLE CRUSH: Me! (warning: this might be the most obnoxious, barf-inducing post you’ve seen from me yet.)
Um, did you all just puke in your mouth a little because I made myself the Style Crush for this week? Yep. Me too. But here’s the honest truth guys: Turns out I didn’t exactly have anyone lined up to be Style Crush this week, and it just so happened that *I* was available, and after reviewing my other options (which were zero), I concluded that picking myself was the easiest (and only) choice. Also I realized that *I* have never even answered the questions that I always ask our Style Crushes here on the blog before. And while I hope I’d never be so pretentious as to think that anyone actually cared to know my answers to any of those questions, turns out we’re back to that ‘we don’t have a choice here’ thing people. So, sorry: you’re gettin’ ME today! And I will warn you: my ADD medicine…
STYLE CRUSH: His Little Lady
Meet TJ. K, once upon a time I came across a killer blog called ‘His Little Lady‘, authored by a gorge girl, full of pretty pics, AND – my fave – adorable outfits. And I thought to myself, I thought: ‘By George, I think I just … yeah … I just developed another STYLE CRUSH! How do you describe your style? Eclectic, relaxed, feminine, and aspiring thrifter. Top 3-4 places you shop most often: Jcrew, Forever 21, Gap. And for those days when I feel my wallet is limitless: Banana Republic and Anthropologie. Where you go for fashion inspiration: Pinterest, other fashion bloggers, The Sartorialist, Teen Vogue (yes, I’m 24 and still read teeny bopper magz), and myself. The most important thing is staying true to who you are, and knowing it’s all about confidence. Who your fashion icons are: Olivia Palermo. She may be the mean girl from The City, but you…
STYLE CRUSH: Adore to Adorn
Meet Nancy. She’s spunky, she’s sweet as can be, and she’s the author of a wicked-awesome personal style blog: Adore to Adorn. This girl has got it goin on! Which is why she is, you guessed it: one of my major STYLE CRUSHES! How she describes her style: Eclectic, bright, and fun! I feel like all of my pieces are pretty basic by themselves, but I like to pair them together in interesting ways and try new things! I may not always hit a home-run, but I believe fashion should be fun! Top 3 places she shops: For trendy pieces, I like to go to places like H&M. For staples I love Zara and Asos. If I had a dream budget for fashion, I’d love to shop online at Net-a-Porter. Her Go-To place for fashion inspiration: I love to look at street-style blogs. It’s inspiring to me to look at real people,…
STYLE CRUSH: Nicole Richie
Why do we love Nicole Richie’s style? Because she can pull off so many different looks, & she does a dang good job of it too. Here are a few of my faves… HIPPY | BOHO CHIC | CLASSIC SIMPLE | CASUAL Lessons Learned: Having great style doesn’t necessarily mean having complicated style. I’m becoming more & more convinced all the time that it really is ‘in the details‘. For exaxmpe: A lot of my favorite Richie Ensembles are extremely basic. But then add to that an amazing bag, a killer scarf, & a great pair of sun glasses, & suddenly it goes from basic to effortlessly chic. Get it? DETAILS. And btw, ‘amazing, killer, & great’ does not have to mean EXPENSIVE. Most of the items that I get the most compliments on are thrifted, & that includes the hand bags & clutches. Anywho, I’m preaching to…
