Happy Tuesday! So let’s get right down to it: I want to talk about faux leather leggings. Are you mad? K good. First of all, let’s just address the fact really quickly that they make maternity versions of these bad boys. Mmmmmyeah. They sure do. Try not to pee your pants. I bought this pair several months ago and I’ve worn them a shocking amount during this pregnancy. And it got me thinking… I feel like faux leather leggings are one of those trends that slays when done right, but that can perhaps be a bit scary for some. Amiright? So I thought I would dedicate today’s post to it. So with no further adieu…
Top Three Reasons to Rock Faux Leather Leggings:
- Instantly elevates your outfit. Imagine this ensemble if I had just been wearing regular old black leggings. It might still be cuteish, but the overall look would definitely have changed. And not in a good way, if you ask me. Faux leather leggings are a sure-fire way to keep yourself out of the frumpy category. Hashtag important.
- They’re super versatile and can be worn in a million different ways. A.k.a. completely dressed down with sneakers like I’m wearing them in this post, or dressed up like I wore them in this post from yester-year. Oh, you want more ideas? Check out this post, this post and this post if you dare. Oh, you want even more faux leather legging outfit inspiration? Fine guys, fine. Just follow me on Pinterest first (duh), then check out this little search I pulled for you. You’re welcome. Moral of the story: you can wear these puppies ouuuuut. And you probs should.
- Styling tip: As with all leggings, make sure you wear these with something on top that has length. Think longer tops, tunics, sweaters and vests that will cover your bum. Basically unless they’re actual pants (as opposed to leggings – meaning they have a zipper, button, and pockets on the bum, like these), keep that backside covered!
- They’re comfy (if you buy the right pair). They may not look it, but these leggings I got on are deceivingly comfortable (they’re Asos maternity and you can buy them here). I have a non-maternity pair as well that I honestly loved (which are now sold out but you can buy the same brand here). I’m guessing that as with anything, not all pairs are created equal in the comfort department, so it may take some trying on, but I have definitely succeeded in finding comfortable faux leather leggings (particularly at Nordstrom and Asos, personally). And you can too! All the more reason to rock those babies like you’re a Chic Chelsea Fashionista Farrah Fawcett (or something like that).
So what do you think guys? Are you fans of the trend? What questions do you have? Tell me all your thoughts and feelings and hopes and dreams.
And then have a Toolshed Tuesday!
And know that I like you. I like you a lot.
