Cool: still being on Christmas vacation.
Not cool: waking up this morning feeling like death. We’re talking body aches, sore throat, cold sweats, and that feeling of straight-up exhaustion where it takes you an hour to conjure up the energy to take a few IB profens. Wooooooof. And coming down with something when you’re supposed to be vacationing is such a life-cheat, right?
For you mamas – what do you do with your baby when you get sick? Do you try to keep your distance where possible? I don’t want to get my babe sick but can I really be expected to not pick him up or kiss those cheeks? What say ye?
As far as fur goes – I’ve always felt like fur vests are like 15% tricky. If you don’t find a good one, they can look real odd in my opinion. And if you do find a good one, they often cost an arm and a leg. Right? I was stoked when one of my favorite San Francisco boutiques, Top Shelf Style, had this fur vestย in stock. The length is right, the quality is awesome, the fit is adorbs, and it was under $100. Woot! The other bonus about shopping boutiques like Top Shelf is that you know you’re going to find unique items that not every single human is also wearing. Hashtag winning.
For the record, I’m also a big fan of this fur vest from Chic Wish for only $42. You can shop this entire look at the bottom of the post. Happy Tuesday!

Shannon,
To not really answer your question, since I have a three month old and don’t really know myself, I have read that if you’re breast feeding you don’t have to really worry about your baby getting sick from you. Apparently breast milk provides anti bodies (?) so that it often works out that your milk acts as a kind of immunization. Any medical professional out there please feel free to correct that if I’m wrong. If you’re not breast feeding though – I have no idea and would love to know the answer too!
Also, how did you lose your pregnancy weight so quickly? Are you working out? Dieting? I gained 50 lbs while pregnant and hoped breast feeding would help burn some of that off. Just my luck, three months in and not a pound lighter.
Love your blog! And love your outfit!

Tara! Thanks for your comment sis! Just so we’re clear: I literally lost 6 lbs in the first 6 months of my baby’s life and I was working out 5 days a week and eating fairly clean. Point being: I couldn’t lose weight to save my life while I was breast feeding. It wasn’t until I stopped nursing (for lots of reasons) that the weight started to fall off. Hope that doesn’t discourage you. My point is to give you hope – for some people, nursing helps them lose the weight quickly. For others, it’s the exact opposite. I was in the exact opposite camp, and once I was no longer nursing the scale started to move at a more regular pace. This isn’t me advising you to stop nursing just so you can lose weight or anything – but it helped me feel better about the whole thing when I heard that not EVERYONE loses weight while they’re nursing, which should give you hope that there IS light at the end of the tunnel. I promise the weight will come off. Just stick to the basics (trying to eat healthy and exercise when you can) and it will work it’s way off. And at three months in I swear I hadn’t lost a pound yet either – you’re not alone! And you’ll be just fine. ๐ Thanks for your insight (about baby sickness) and thanks for following the blog! xo
