I asked my stylish home boy Clint to school us on mens coats: what are the must haves, and where can we get them for a screamin’ deal? He’s got some insight for us below that I think might knock your trousers off. Or at least your socks. Read & Learn. Let’s face it – coats are expensive, but they really don’t have to be. Here’s the secret (that’s not really a secret): most coats and jackets go on sale after Christmas and at latest by end of January to make room for the Spring stuff. Which means that the time to buy your winter coats and jackets is RIGHT NOW. Start looking – you’ll be glad you did.
I’ve made it an annual ritual to use the month of January for finding those coats that aren’t a need, aren’t a want, but are simply A MUST. And in my opinion, there are two coat categories that fall in line with the MUST HAVES: the classics (that are usually super expensive) and the wouldn’t normally buy items (that I secretly want) that are now on sale.
Here are my MUST HAVES from this month’s coat clearance splurge: the camel top coat, the black pea coat and the neon puffy coat (that’s the one I secretly wanted).
The Camel Top Coat
The camel topcoat just makes me feel like a sophisticated stud. It’s your grandpa’s coat you realized you wanted once you got a little style, plus every successful businessman innately has one (dress for the job you WANT, not the one you have, right?).

The Black Pea Coat
The black pea coat – it’s sweet. Period. Dress it up, dress it down – hat, no hat – it’s a win. And chicks dig it . . or do they? You tell me.

The Neon Puffy Coat
The neon puffy coat – you can hate all you want but people love this baby. It’s warm, it’s very safe (while crossing roads), and it’s different. Found this little guy at Ralph Lauren and couldn’t resist.

Moral of the story is: don’t let this month end without getting your hands on the coat or coats you’ve been eyeing. Remember: they’re on sale, you can afford them (now that they’re on sale), and they’ll make you look like a stud – need I say more? Good luck finding your Coat MUST HAVES.
