Style Crush: Miranda Kerr

K peeps – if you’re anything like me, you’re looking at these pics thinking ‘Yeah, yeah – she’s got great style, blah blah blah – I would too if I was pencil thin, 6 ft. tall and being paid millions of dollars to look hot in front of the camera every day.’  Orrrrrrrr maybe I’m the only whack job thinking that? Either way, here’s my point: maybe you’re not a spittin’ image of Miranda Kerr (welcome to my life), BUT that doesn’t mean you can’t learn from her style and mimic the things she does unequivocally well. Here’s what I observe: fairly basic ensembles pulled together with a few key things: an amaze-balls pair of shoes, a killer scarf, a skilled mixture of lengths, and just enough ‘trend’ to look up to date without trying too hard.  I LOVE her pointy toe pumps that elongate (as if she needs that) and instantly make her outfits look more chic and demure. I also love the long, oversized coats and sweaters paired with skinny, skinny jeans – mixing lengths, scale, and texture in your outfit is always a big, fat G for GOOD. She works in some super trendy items as well, i.e. blue leopard skinny jeans, ankle boots, jean jackets, and monochrome (all black anyone?). And HELLO – can we talk about how badly I wish I looked adorable in HATS after looking at all these pics? Miranda Kerr pulls of the boho-chic look like a seasoned pro, and she does so effortlessly.  And to me, that’s the key – that’s what separates the men from the boys – the effortless thing (even if in reality you studied and researched and tried on 12 outfits and took 5 hours to get ready).  Final verdict: I give Miranda an overall G.

p.s… Also secretly loved this quote of hers: “I believe that to be successful at anything you have to give it a 100% commitment, and that is what I still do to this day.”  Consider that my 2013 motto!  And hello – how cute is her baby? And do we secretly love that he is in so many of her pictures? Is it possible that she’s a hands-on mom on top of it all? K – Miranda, we love you long time. The end.

It’s back to the grind today (womp womp). Always tough to sink back into work and regularity after the holidays, isn’t it? BUT, I’m just reminding myself of how blessed I am to have a job to go to at all.
