and I LOVED LOVED LOVED every second of it, for a combination of reasons – its beauty (in most parts anyway), the diversity, the people I met there and loved so much they became like family, the fact that my reason for being there was very very special to me & still is (as mentioned in THIS post), etc. etc.
My POINT is people: I LOVE that city – Philadelphia. We’re talking creepy, obsession-level love. So naturally when I stumbled upon the fashion blog ‘Sisters in the City‘, based in Philly and written by two gorgeous, uber-chic sisters, I was drooling. Imagine my delight then when one of the beautiful sisters contacted me to be a Style Crush feature? HECK YES! So with no further adieu…
Meet Corbynn.
Co-author of the kick-bum blog ‘Sisters in the City‘ and this week’s
Style Crush!
Look at those SHOES! I die.
K, I thought it would be fun if we started digging a little deeper into the fashionable hearts and minds of GBO Fashion Style Crushes, so I’ve asked Corbynn a bum-load of questions. Here are her answers! Ennnnnjoy peeps!
How would you describe your style?
I would say my style is classic and yes, I admit, preppy. I am a sucker for blazers, structured dresses, nautical accessories, polos, boat shoes and cardigans. I love the structured but feminine look.
Who are your fashion icons?
Kate Middleton and of course, Audrey Hepburn!
Where do you go for fashion inspiration?
I love getting inspiration from fellow bloggers. Following blogs is a great way to see a different way of styling the things you already love!
What are the top three places you shop?
Ann Taylor Loft, T.J. Maxx, and J. Crew (If you have never shopped at T.J. Maxx you really should. You wouldn’t believe the AMAZING things you can find there!)
What’s your ‘Go-To’ outfit for when you need to get ready in a flash?
Well, for summer it is always a dress. The fact that its just one piece makes it so easy, plus I love to feel feminine. In the colder months, I always throw on jeans, a tee, a cardigan and my favorite boots. It’s an easy, simple way to look put-together.
What do you seek to achieve when you dress?
Most of all, I want to feel like myself. I don’t like to wear things that don’t feel “like me.” I feel the best about my appearance when I feel like myself.
Would you say you have a ‘signature’ style? If so, what are the main elements?
I wouldn’t necessarily say my whole style is signature, but one thing I find unique to me is that I don’t like to wear a ton of accessories or costume jewelry. Usually I wear a few key pieces that have personal meaning to me. For example, I always wear my one-of-a-kind antique wedding ring on my right hand. My sister gave it to me for my high school graduation and it has “eternal love” engraved on the inside. It’s simple, understated and beautiful.
How do you think others can achieve a truly individual/unique style?
Be yourself! That’s the easiest way to stay unique. Nobody else is quite like you. Do what you want, it’s your style!
Why is the way you look/dress important to you?
Dressing really is a form of self-expression. It’s a creative outlet for me and a way to have fun every day.
Do you follow trends? If so, what trends excite you at the moment?
I would say my style is more classic, but I do like to lean toward trends sometimes instead of following them completely. Lucky for me, the trends this fall seems to match my classic style!
What fashion tips would you give to women who want to improve their sense of style?
So often I see girls all dressed up that look so uncomfortable. They are tugging at this or trying to cover that. If something makes you feel less than confident, ditch it! You might have really cute shoes on, but if you can’t walk in them without looking like you are going to barf, don’t wear them! Find something that makes it easier for you to be your comfortable and confident self.
Amen Sista!
Some great advice in those answers eh?
