What do Shannon of Shannon Hearts and I have in common? We both have brown eyes. And husbands. And fashion blogs. That’s it. Ohhh wait – we also have the same name! (durrrrrrf)
But it turns out that’s not even the BIGGEST reason why I fell for this girl. Mostly it was because she’s HOT (I’m shallow) and because her blog kicks major fashion trash. Most of all, she’s a major sweetheart. And as we all know, a beautiful heart makes a beautiful girl (I’m not actually shallow. kind of.). It doesn’t hurt when she dresses like a regular Rachel Zoe either. Which is why Shannon of Shannon Hearts is this week’s
Style Crush!
Read on for all of her killer insights on style, blogging, and fashion.
1. How would you describe your style?
My style is natural, girly and uncomplicated. I am drawn to feminine clothing, and I am a sucker for florals, pastels and lace.
2. Who are your fashion icons?
I love girls who look effortless and natural. My fashion icons are Lauren Conrad, Jessica Alba and Kate Beckinsale.
3. Where do you go for fashion inspiration?
I am borderline obsessed with fashion magazines. It’s my weekend treat to relax and read my favorites from cover to cover. Of course, I also love to look at fashion blogs and I find so much inspiration from my fellow bloggers.
4. What are the top three places you shop?
Nordstrom, Anthropologie, and Madewell.
5. What’s your ‘Go-To’ outfit for when you need to get ready in a flash?
Striped maxi dress, scarf and sandals.
6. Do you follow trends? If so, what trends excite you at the moment?
Of course I love to follow trends, so long as they fall in line with my personal style. I won’t wear a trend if I think it’s unflattering or just plain ugly. Right now I’m loving the black and white trend, and also am completely in love with all the spring pastels.
7. Why is the way you look/dress important to you?
More than anything I just want to feel good. Putting on something pretty and doing my hair and make-up makes me feel great. It gives me confidence and puts me in a good mood.
8. What fashion or styling tips would you give to women who want to improve their sense of style?
What I’ve learned over the years is that it’s important to invest in some classic pieces, that you will wear for years and years and will never go out of style. Going for more expensive purchases that fit you beautifully and are nice quality are worthwhile investments. They will look great on you and will be versatile in your wardrobe. Go for less expensive purchases for trendy pieces that will go out of style quickly.
11. Anything further you’d like to add? Thank you so much for having me. It’s been such a pleasure!
