Thank you Target for sponsoring this post!
Happy Friday amigos! Sorry for being completely M.I.A. this week. Some last minute travel for work to NYC made this week a little cray cray crazy. But I’ve teamed up with Target today to talk porches! Yes, porches. It’s summer after all, which means a lot more coming and going for you, your family and your friends. Translation: getting your porch game on-point might not be the worst idea. Especially when it comes to the summer get-togethers you’re hosting, having something fun and inviting right on your front porch is like telling your guests ‘Hey, you’re in the right place and this is gonna be guuuuuud’ before they even walk throught the front door. Winning!
Since husband and I are in a poopy little apartment right now, I borrowed my in-laws’ porch to create two different looks, featuring items primarily from good ol’ Target (a.k.a. budget friendly). Lemme know what you think!
Porch Look Number One…
Look #1: French chic
I spotted this adorable bicycle doormat in Target and it was game-over. I knew that’s what I would center the rest of this porch look around. I tried to work off of the cute primary colors already in the doormat and incorporate those into the rest of what was on the porch. I loved how the pop-of-red carnations looked in this cutie hurricane lantern candle from Target, and to give it some height I put it on top of this outdoor lantern. Sunflowers laid in front of the configuration felt like the right way to make it all look slightly less contrived and give it more of a ‘I woke up like this’ vibe. I added the oversized bronze ‘W’ letter (similar) for some personalization, and because it’s always best to decorate in threes if you can! As for the other side of the porch, I wanted to create some balance in scale. So to offset the amount of things we had going on the left side, I incorporated that Eiffel Tower statue thingy (similar) which my in-laws already owned. The result was a sort of french-chic look that was warm, colorful and inviting.
Porch Look Number Two…
Look #2: Earth Tones Elegance
Ok don’t mind the super grainy photos you guys (uggg – that’s what happens when your only chance to take the photos is when you’re already losing light! My bad), aaaaand I realize that we may be using the word elegance a little loosely here, but that was at least the goal for look #2. Again, this cute geometric doormat from Target was the impetus for the other items I pulled together for the look (couldn’t find this exact rug online but it may be in stores, which is where I scored this one. Here’s a similar one from online). I decided to focus on earth tones for the most part and stuck with neutrals plus a few pops of color. These pretty lanterns (here, here and here) added some great detail, and hydrangeas in this pretty floral vase and matching floral wreaths on the door (similar) completed the look. Boom!

Tips for Styling your Porch:
- Know the power of a killer doormat. In both looks above, it was finding and falling in love with an amazing doormat that guided the rest of the look. When you don’t have tons of space to work with (as was the case for me), an adorable doormat can do the dang thang.
- Pick a theme and run with it. Whether it’s French chic with primary colors as your color palette or ‘elegant’ earth tones, decide on a theme that appeals to you and then figure out ways to incorporate it throughout.
- Simplicity works! Above all, remember that there’s no need to go out and spend a ton of money or to feel like simplicity can’t win the day here. In my book, simplicity always wins.
So there you have it! What do you think guys? Any tips you can use here? What are YOU doing with your front porches?
Have a fab Friday!
Thanks so much for reading.
