A mini person, that is. And turns out I’m referring to myself here peeps. Tis’ true – I be just a hair and a wink over midget status (a hair and a wink? Jigga what?). At 5’3″, this former-gymnast-who-stunted-her-growth-in-those-important-pubescent-years-when-I-might-have-grown-at-least-1-inch-taller thought that maxi skirts or dresses were out of the question for her. She figured they’d gobble her right up!
(that time when we all wished she’d stop speaking in third person)
And THEN… in walked this maxi dress from Urban Attic Boutique. I put it on and instantly fell head over heels. It was like when I went and saw World War Z, and was fully expecting for it to suck (cuz really? this movie is about the world being at war with zombies? Really, Brad? After all your experience that’s the best you’re gonna come up with? And you’re gonna spend $400 mil doing it?), and then suprisingly, it shocks the poop right outta ya, because it doesn’t even suck at all! It’s actually like pretty dang good – like you’d maybe see it again because it was that entertaining. (Um, rambling tangent much? Can we please get back to the point?)
The point is: I was not expecting to have love for the maxi. And as it turns out, I DO! Me and all of my 5 foot 3 inched frame have a big fat crush on the maxi. Particularly THIS maxi – so comfy, so versatile, so forgiving, so… everything that’s right in the world.
p.s. there may or may not be a killer Giveaway comin’ down the pipe this week from one of the designers I’m wearing in this outfit. You’ll have to make sure you come back Thursday so you don’t miss it!
What do YOU guys think? Can short ladies rock the maxi? Are YOU wearing maxis?

It just so happens I am precisely the same height as you, and I do indeed wear maxis. We can totally rock them!

Love this maxi dress! I am on the short side too (5’4) and have had major issues finding maxis that work for me. I think I have 2 – one skirt, one dress. But I love to wear them (especially the skirt). I would love to have a few more!

You look so pretty! Love it!
I am constantly looking at maxi dresses, too. I’m also 5’3″ (I think I’m actually slightly under) and every time I find one, it needs to be hemmed like a foot. And homegirl doesn’t sew or want to add $$$ onto the prices of things I buy.
Alsos, I am jealous of whatever neighborhood you live in because it’s been SUPER foggy in mine lately.
That maxi is perfect on you!!!!

First of all, I LOVE that you aren’t afraid to post the silly pictures. Secondly, you’re adorable, and I LOVE your hair that color. Third, you look amazing in that maxi dress. I never would have guessed that you were only 5’3″ because the dress totally lengthens you out!
Love your blog girl!!
Cute outfit!!! With so many different styles of maxis out there, anyone can pull it off 😉

I love that maxi dress, the print on the skirt is amazing!! I am not sure it would be long enough for me, I see your shoes might add 3/4 inches so it might work but I’m not sure! cute summery outfit!

Definitely! I’m 5’2” and maxis are a staple in my closet 🙂 I love the aztec print of this one…so bold! Definitely very flattering with its high waist and your wedge sandals!!
One of my FAVE outfits on you, Shannon! Love this! You’re the cutest.
This maxi is GORGEOUS on you! I absolutely love it, and it looks so good paired with the denim jacket! I feel like shorter girls always look miles tall in the right maxi dress! I’m 5’6 and while that’s pretty average find that maxi dresses always feel about an inch too short for me. Always slightly awkward! Someday I’ll find my perfect one!
Amazing maxi skirt!! Love this look, you have DARLING style!
