Cool: Running to Target real quick after the night’s workout to purchase one very specific thing.
Not Cool: Walking out with five things, three of which were things I would wear. Woops.
I thought this might be an appropriate time to share some invaluable life lessons I’ve garnished over these many moons of shopping my undisciplined face off.
Shopping Induced Life Lessons:
1) If it’s not quite what your’e looking for, don’t buy it. Even if it’s close. (otherwise you end up with five pairs of leopard flats in your closet, none of which are very comfortable, none of which are high quality, and none of which were quite what you were looking for. But *I* of course would personally have no idea what that’s like (drip drip goes the sarcasm).)
2) If you don’t love it, don’t buy it. (I read this quote in Glamour mag once by Tommy Hilfiger I think? (my memory is an Olympic gold medalist.) He said something to the effect of ‘If you’re not ripping off the tags to wear it the moment you get home, then don’t buy it.’ Sound advice Tommy.)
3) If you DO love it, buy it! Buy that sucka right then. (ok this might not be the most responsible advice ever. But the point I’m making is this: if I had a nickel for every time I didn’t buy something I loved & then lived to regret it when I went back and the item was all sold out… I could buy something from Zara. But probably not J.Crew still, let’s be serious.)
4) Tis’ oft better to spend a little more than usual on one, high quality item, than to end up buying four cheap knock off versions that never end up being quite what you were looking for. (I am still learning this one. My knee jerk reaction is still to be the girl with five pairs of subpar leopard flats in her closet instead of one pair of truly legit ones. But think about it: add up what I paid on each of those five pairs of flats – I coulda just bought the real deal at that point. Right?! Am I right guys? Bueller? Bueller?)
And there you have it! Ohhhhh the clarity that Target evokes. God bless that place (for their clearance sales – cuz MAN are they good!).
Cardigan: Target | Lace Tank: F.21 | Jeans: Apricot Lane Boutique | Leopard Heels: Target | Peter Pan Collar Necklace: Modcloth | Bag: London Fog (from Loehmann’s) | Nerd Glasses: F.21 | Bow Ring: F.21 | Bracelet: F.21 | Tortoise Shell Watch: Wristology, c/o
Aaaaaaaaaand sometimes this happens.
Can someone teach me how to stop eating half a bag of Starbursts every single night before bed? Cuz my mid section is getting sooooo mad at me and I don’t deal well with conflict. K thanks.
Have a Thread-bare Thursday!
And don’t miss your chance… there’s still ONE more day to enter last week’s Giveaway!
Thanks for readink.

LOL, you are a trip! I love how easy it is for your personality to come out through your blog. AND, I was just at my Target yesterday purchasing oodles of things that I did not go there to purchase, and did NOT see this adorbs cardigan. I may have to go back today! LOVE IT!
You know what? I’m so like this too. Buying 5 things of something rather than spending the $$$ in the first place and getting what I really want. Sheesh.
I also like Hilfiger’s way of thinkin’…. ripping off the tags. I usually go by “Will I regret it if I don’t buy it?” And almost always it’s yes. That doesn’t make sense. So now I’ll take Hilfiger’s advice. haha.
great advice! also that topknot is fabulous with a capital F (i wish mine looked like that) and that collar necklace is gorgeous!

your leopard flats are my riding boots. I just need to give in and buy the nice ones already, because the 3 cheapos in my closet are not cutting it. womp, womp
I could not agree with these tenants more. I am DEFINITELY guilty of buying 10 cheap things from Forever 21 that will last me one season, rather than just buying 1 really nice, classic piece from Bloomingdales that will last me a lifetime. I am glad to know even style bloggers feel the same! 🙂
Love this look! I wish I could pull off the top knot, but i just can’t!

I love you in blue jeans!
WOW i love your sense of style. I found your blog via frills for thrills. One of my new must reads is GBO!!
This post made me laugh because you’re describing me to a T. I have second guessed myself on a purchase and missed out on something I really wanted, which results in collecting a whole bunch of “almost” items that aren’t really what you were looking for. So annoying and such a tough habit to break!!
love love this look Shannon! I need photography tips girl, not only is your outfit completely fabulous, these pictures are perfect! 🙂

Health to Michelle Obama constitutes of both internal and physical, both diet and the mental and emotional state. They are all interrelated in a way. Throughout her life, she had been privileged of making the perfect choices for herself, and she considers herself fortunatefor this. Even her husband encouraged her everytime to figure out what she actually wanted to do, as they both understood the simple fact that physical happiness is connected to all the components of a healthy lifestyle, and hence she wants to pass on these concepts to her daughters. ”`*
