Summer dresses are the best, amiright? I mean, show me one person who hates summer dresses and I’ll show you a Shannon Willardson (uh, that’s me) that is 6 ft. tall. Not. Happening. The best part about this little number? It was THRIFTED! Ten buckeroos she was. Not too shabby, eh? Man – Utah (my former place of residence) really was the bomb.com for thrifting. I found sooooo many gems there. Correction: I bet where I live now (San Francisco-Bay area) is even better for thrifting… I just apparently have less time or am more lazy or it’s less convenient or all of the above? Not sure – all I know is that I’ve done very little thrifting since moving here and I did A LOT when I lived in Utah, and mostly that makes me want to slap myself in the face. I mean, it DID help that I passed a Plato’s Closet everyday on my route home from work when I lived in UT. Excuses Excuses. I am proud to say however that I picked up this jacket from a SF thrift store, along with a pair of Jimmy Choo heels (Jimmy Choo!) for $30 that have yet to grace the pages of the blog (mostly because if we’re being honest, they are a bit too big. It probs wasn’t my wisest thrifted purchase of all time if we’re being even more honest, but hello? They were Jimmy Choo! For $30! And they mostly fit me, ya know? I mean when in the heck will I ever purchase or own a pair of Jimmy’s, right? I mean YOU woulda bought them too, right? Right guys? Bueller? Bueller?)
So now I’m curious – do you guys do a lot of thrift store shopping? Seriously, do you? And particularly if you live in the bay area, where the heck do you go? Where are your favorite places? Share your wisdom! And then tell me your feelings on summer dresses. THIS summer dress in particular.
GBO?

Girl, you have GOT to check out the Town School Clothes Closet http://townschoolclothescloset.org/. The best thrifting in SF!
Summer dresses are indeed, the best! They are comfortable and so perfect for the hot weather!
I’m always impressed by people who find good stuff thrifting (shoes that are too big don’t count!!)…but I almost never even try. I think I’m just spoiled by nice stores. I like things to be laid out nicely so I can see them, and then I want to know that when I see something I like, I can (most of the time) find it in my size. Thrift shopping is just so much work! Amiright ladies?!

I tooootally would have bought the Jimmy’s too…. mostly fitting is good enough! I’m living in Utah right now, do you have any thrift store suggestions?! DI doesn’t usually pan out for me, and I’m a frequenter of Plato’s Closet, are there any other gems that I’m missing?
you look fabulous and i am obsessed with your shoes ๐
I adore your wedges, too cute!

Girl, I totally would have gotten the Jimmy Choos! Even if they were too small and I had to squeeze my feet into them and I was dying…I would buy them!
Hey! Soo….. Haight Street has lots of thrift stores. Crossroads is also a cool place for second hand stuff geared toward the young and fashion conscious. The location I go to is on Irving (also near Ambiance, my favoritest boutique), but there are a few other locations in the city as well. You mentioned Plato’s Closet. I’ve never been in one, but there is one in downtown San Mateo, which is in the peninsula, if you’re unfamiliar (it’s my hometown). Word.

I did a similar look the other day where I put a chambray shirt over a maxi dress! I love it paired with a short dress too and those shoes are adorable!

I am not really feeling the chambray over the dress. But I prefer my clothes a bit more fitting.
I did not become a thrifter until I moved to Columbus, Ohio! Unbelievable finds…name brands for dirt cheap. Best part, many still have original tags on them! Score!
Happy thrift shopping!!!!
